Two Uncle Davids; David Jewett Crabtree, Jr.(1928-1974) on the left; and David S. Blakely (1924-2010) on the right. David Blakely's daughter, my cousin Cheryl Blakely, estimates the date to be 1946-47. They were good men and I loved them so much when I was growing up.

ReplyDeleteHello there. If course, I have to comment on this. If I'm not mistaken, this picture was taken at a nightclub in New York. My mum was there also. I'll try to find a pic. I'm thinking this may have been while they were on their honeymoon. Mum and dad got married December 1, 1946. But, it could have been later, like maybe 1947, when Uncle David was on leave. They apparently went clubbing because I have a couple other photos from other clubs, one being the famous Stork Club in Greenwich Village. Those two Davids were the best of buddies. When Uncle David passed away in 1974, it was only the second of the four times I had ever seen my dad cry.
